Convict May Get New Trial in 1988 Murders
From Times Staff Reports
An appellate court ruling makes a new trial likely for a man who already has served more than 12 years for the 1988 slayings of two federal drug agents and the attempted murder of a third.
Michael Su Chia, now 34, was not at the bloody shootout on a Pasadena street, but he was convicted of being a part of a conspiracy that led to the gunfight over an $80,000 heroin deal that went sour.
Chia was sentenced to 61 years in prison.
