Budget Bashing
“Terror War Budget May Fall Short” (Feb. 26) advised that the cost for anti-terrorism for the year 2002 would be $30 billion. I would suggest that the figure is grossly distorted. The people in the military would still be in the military, still being paid and compensated. Much of the equipment would be used for training, consequently maintenance costs would still be incurred. I would guess that additional personnel for the CIA, etc., are being hired, but $30 billion worth? How can we get anything accurate? Asking hasn’t worked.
