Toyota Names New Chief of Diversity
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. has appointed longtime dealer development and marketing executive Guillermo Hysaw to fill the new post of vice president of diversity.
Hysaw, a former president of 100 Black Men of Los Angeles Inc., will oversee the Torrance-based auto importer and distributor’s 10-year, $7.8-billion diversity strategy.
The program calls for significant increases in Toyota’s investments in minority purchasing, advertising, dealer development, corporate giving and career training in the U.S. It was launched in part to respond to a threatened boycott last summer by the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH coalition.
Toyota Motor Corp. shares fell 3 cents to $50.97 on the NYSE.
