* Toll Bros. Inc., the largest U.S. luxury-home builder, said first-quarter net income rose a better-than-expected 11% to $44.5 million, or $1.20 a share, as revenue rose 5% to $482.7 million. The company also said 2002 profit would beat expectations.

* The maker of the nation’s only Lyme disease vaccine has pulled it off the market, citing poor sales.

Lymerix caused controversy when patients who said they were sickened by the vaccine asked the government to restrict sales and filed numerous lawsuits against maker GlaxoSmithKline. But a yearlong Food and Drug Administration investigation found no proof the vaccine was dangerous.
