Newport Teen Killed in Freeway Wreck

An 18-year-old Newport Beach driver was killed Sunday in an accident on the San Diego Freeway.
Shortly before 9 p.m., Ryan Newman was driving north in a sport-utility vehicle when he swerved into the center divider north of the exit for the Garden Grove Freeway, a CHP spokesman said. The vehicle struck the divider, overturned in the two left lanes and was hit by a car whose driver and passenger were unhurt.
