Criticism Fails to Halt New Bible Translation
The publisher and distributor of the recently announced Today’s New International Version of the Bible intend to continue with plans to publish the translation despite criticism from some evangelical leaders who would like them to halt publication.
Eight of a dozen people involved in a dispute over plans for a revamped New International Version in 1997 issued a statement asking the International Bible Society and Zondervan Publishing House to reverse their plans.
Among their concerns is the new version’s inclusion of what its planners call “gender-accurate” language.
