Sewage Spill Closes 2 Beaches to Swimmers
From Times Staff Reports
HUNTINGTON BEACH
A 1,500-gallon sewage spill forced the closure of two beaches in Huntington Harbour, authorities said Monday.
Sunset Aquatic Marina and Portofino Cove are closed to swimmers and divers for at least three days, officials said.
“We’ve asked that people stay out of the water,” said Larry Honeybourne, chief of the Orange County Health Care Agency’s water quality program.
The spill was thought to have been caused by a clogged sewage line at Bolsa Center, a strip mall near Springdale Street and Bolsa Avenue, Honeybourne said.
