Reinventing the Word
Every time Madonna has a new look, some music critic claims she has “reinvented” herself.
In the Calendar story about new retail shopping centers, Nicolai Ouroussoff writes that “reinvention” is their only hope for survival (“No Sale in a Faux Town,” Jan. 27). In that same issue, film critic Kenneth Turan mentions Marisa Tomei’s “reinventing” herself could earn her an Oscar nomination.
Can’t journalists invent any more inventive phrases when writing about today’s culture and society?
