A Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center employee was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempted sexual assault on a patient, authorities said.

Roberto Mendez, 24, of San Juan Capistrano climbed into the bed of a woman about 2 a.m. Sunday at the Mission Viejo hospital, officials said. The woman fought her attacker off, police said. Mendez was a technician who helped set and remove casts. He was fired after the incident was reported. He was taken to Central Jail and is being held on $10,000 bail.
