Private Zoos in China
I have seldom been more depressed than I am after reading “Burden of Beasts in China” (Dec. 27). Certainly there is enough cruelty in the world to keep us all in tears, but to harm captive animals that cannot fight back should be a huge stain on all our consciences. If we do nothing to stop it, we all richly deserve to be tortured to death. From now on, I will actively campaign to stop travelers from visiting China until this situation is corrected and I will refuse to purchase any item with so much as a part that was manufactured in China.
