Oxnard Man Awaits Rescue After Crash
An Oxnard man who suffered a broken leg and several cuts early Sunday spent the night waiting to be rescued after the car he was driving ran off the southbound Ventura Freeway near Padre Juan Canyon Road.
Cameo C. Williams, 21, was returning from Santa Barbara about 2 a.m. when the 2001 Honda Civic he had borrowed left the roadway in the Rincon area, the California Highway Patrol said.
An off-duty firefighter in the vicinity heard Williams calling for help shortly before 10 a.m. and went to assist him.
Williams, who apparently had not been wearing his seat belt, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center. He was in serious condition Sunday evening.
