Woman, 19, Dies in Crash in Anaheim
A 19-year-old woman died early Christmas morning after losing control of her car and hitting a light pole on the transition from the southbound Orange Freeway to the westbound Riverside Freeway in Anaheim, authorities said.
Salima Nagja of Los Angeles was declared dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange following the 5:15 a.m. accident. A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries.
The ramp was closed for about 30 minutes.
Also Wednesday, a multi-vehicle collision hospitalized one motorist and shut down most of the Santa Ana Freeway in Irvine for about one hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred when a sport utility vehicle overturned at 1:19 p.m. in northbound lanes south of Culver Drive. Authorities closed all but one lane of traffic while tow trucks removed vehicles. Lanes were reopened at 2:10 p.m.
