Schedule Reduced LAPD Overtime, Study Says
The flexible work schedule implemented for the Los Angeles Police Department a year ago has so far reduced end-of-shift overtime by almost 20% and sick time by 11%, according to a study released Monday.
However, overtime related to court appearances has increased by almost 9%, according to the study by City Administrative Officer William Fujioka.
He said more data and time is needed to discover the schedule’s true cost-effectiveness.
The flexible work schedule allows many officers to work three days a week, 12 hours a day, or four days a week, 10 hours a day.
