Fiat CEO Steps Down; Chairman Stays On
From Associated Press
After days of speculation over a possible management shake-up, Fiat announced that co-Chief Executive Gabriele Galateri had resigned after five months in the post, but dismissed speculation that Chairman Paolo Fresco also would step down.
Fiat said Galateri would stay on until a replacement is found, and expressed its trust in Fresco.
The company also said a massive restructuring at its unprofitable Fiat Auto unit would go ahead as planned.
