San Diego State (3-4) at Long Beach State (1-4), 7:30, XTRA (690) -- First-year Long Beach Coach Larry Reynolds, previously at Division II Cal State San Bernardino, is still looking for a Division I win. The 49ers’ only victory was against Cal State Monterey Bay, an NAIA school. San Diego State, a former rival of the 49ers in the old Pacific Coast Athletic Assn., lost to No. 1 Arizona, 89-81, in its last game, while Long Beach was beaten by UCLA, 81-58. Four players, led by 6-foot-9 center Mike Mackell (17.4 points), score in double figures for the Aztecs.

UC Santa Barbara (3-3) at California (3-1), 7:30, KEYT (1250) -- Cal, which has won 20 consecutive home games against nonconference opponents, has made 21 three-pointers in its last two games. Santa Barbara, led by guard Nick Jones (13 of 22 three-point attempts), is shooting 46.2% from behind the arc. Golden Bear forward Joe Shipp averages 22.5 points a game.
