Man Pleads Not Guilty in Rape, Robbery Case
A Pasadena man accused of kidnapping a woman from her east Ventura home and sexually assaulting her pleaded not guilty to criminal charges Friday.
Marcus Fields, 27, was arrested earlier this month in a Pasadena motel room after police received tips based on a composite drawing of the suspect.
Police launched a search after a man slipped though an unlocked sliding glass door into the home of a 52-year-old woman on June 27 and ordered her into her car. The man sexually assaulted the woman in Oxnard, then forced her to withdraw cash from an ATM before driving her to the Hollywood area, where she escaped, police said.
Fields is charged with burglary, kidnapping, two counts of rape, robbery and carjacking. He remains jailed in lieu of $360,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 11.
