Girl, 7, Aunt Are Rescued From Pool
A 7-year-old girl and her 45-year-old aunt were spotted on the bottom of a swimming pool in Cypress Friday by a man who pulled them out and revived them.
The girl and her aunt, neither of whom could swim, had been in the deep end of the pool when the aunt lost her grip on the wall, authorities said.
Vincent Wickander, who was at the community pool in the townhouse complex with his son and mother, said he suddenly noticed a boy looking into the water and crying.
Wickander said he dove in and realized that two people were on the pool bottom, both unconscious. He pulled the girl out and administered CPR until she began to breathe, he said. He then dove back in and pulled the woman out, and resuscitated her until paramedics arrived. Both were admitted to Los Alamitos Medical Center. “It was a scary thing,” said Wickander, sounding shaken. “Luckily, I had just taken a CPR class last Friday night.”
