Man’s Body Found at Scene of Forest Fire
Arson investigators looking into a quickly growing forest fire Friday in the Lytle Creek area of San Bernardino County found the badly burned body of a man, authorities said.
The discovery occurred on a day when a helicopter crashed while dropping water on the fire. The pilot was not injured.
About 5:30 a.m., investigators found the body of a man in an open field, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Gonzales. An abandoned car was several hundred yards away, and both were near the origin of the fire, Gonzales said.
Detectives are investigating whether there is a connection between the body and the car.
