Is True Equity Possible?
British Equity has my vote! Please stop sending Americans to London (“A British Protest of a U.S. Invasion,” by David Gritten, Aug. 26).
However, it must be quid pro quo. Let’s begin with Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Bob Hoskins, Jane Leeves, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Ringo Starr, Pierce Brosnan, Peter O’Toole, Sean Connery, Jonathan Pryce, Kate Winslet....
How silly it all is.

Our Glenn Close portraying Blanche DuBois in a London production of “A Streetcar Named Desire” is as fair as England’s Vivien Leigh playing the part of Blanche in the ‘50s film. Leigh was also given the coveted role of Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone With the Wind.”
U.S. invasion indeed.
