Trip to the Space Station for the Kids, Singer Says
Lance Bass of the pop group ‘N Sync promised to sing aboard the international space station when he visits this fall.
But don’t expect any cosmic concerts. Bass, 23, says it’s all for education’s sake.
He told reporters in Houston the point of the adventure is to inspire kids to become astronauts, scientists, or anything--no matter how difficult or seemingly impossible.
Bass’ participation sets a couple of records: He will be the youngest space traveler and the first graduate of space camp--which he attended in Florida 10 years ago--to make it to space.
The singer also set a space program record for the most frequent use of the word “amazing”--41 times, by NASA’s count. According to Bass, it’s been an amazing week at NASA with an amazing space crew and an amazing international mission. “It’s going to be amazing,” he added.
