Infant Boy Found Dead in Grandmother’s Car
An 8-week-old boy was found dead inside his grandmother’s luxury car after the woman forgot about the infant and left him in the vehicle all day, police said.
Bretta Kendall, 48, of Oakland left her grandson, Marcello Alfonso Kendall, in a baby seat in her 1999 Lexus and went to work at an Albertson’s warehouse about 8 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Kendall discovered the unresponsive infant at 4:30 p.m. and paramedics tried to revive him, but he showed no signs of life, said Capt. Dave Wheeler of the Alameda County Fire Department.
Kendall was not arrested, but San Leandro Police Lt. Steve Pricco said she is expected to be charged with child neglect pending further investigation.
