Firefighters Treated for Exposure to Toxins
Four firefighters suffered minor injuries Saturday after being exposed to toxic fumes while they were extinguishing a blaze outside a commercial structure in Chatsworth, a fire spokesman said.
“They were treated for dizziness and eye irritation, but they were all released in good condition,” said Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
About 125 firefighters fought the fire, which apparently began when several barrels containing flammable liquid ignited, Wells said.
The injured firefighters were treated at the scene at 9800 N. Deering Ave. in Chatsworth. The fire was reported at 2:51 p.m. and extinguished at 3:27 p.m., Wells said.
