University Teams Up for Griggs Cup
Irvine University High earned the Griggs Cup for the top performance by a team in the CIF boys’ interscholastic division at the Ojai Valley tennis tournament. The Trojans scored eight points, one for each victory by their singles and doubles entries in the division.
No. 1 singles player Aaron Yovan reached the division final before falling to Malibu’s Doug Stewart. Anson Hsu and Jeff Lawrence advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles before losing to eventual runners-up Ari Rosenthal and Eric McKean of Brentwood.
Corona del Mar and Brentwood tied for second place with six points, and Malibu was third with five.
