3rd Trial in Solomona Case to Start
Jury selection will begin this week in the third trial of a Buena Park man accused of killing a neighborhood teenager who stole a Halloween decoration from in front of his home in 1999.
A jury in December deadlocked 9 to 3 in favor of conviction on a charge of second-degree murder, prompting the judge to declare a mistrial.
The first jury to hear the case convicted Peter Solomona of second-degree murder but acquitted him of personally using a firearm. A judge overturned the conviction, saying the jury had received incorrect instructions.
