Harleys Get a Bad Rap
Re “Born to Be Wild, at Full Decibel,” Commentary, April 23: As a former motorcycle rider I have to admit I enjoy the sound of a Harley, even when the mufflers have been cut off. Of course I realize it can be overdone, especially when several bikers are traveling together. However, what really sets my teeth on edge are the people who have giant speakers mounted in the trunks of their cars or in the beds of their pickups--and play rap music with its filthy lyrics loud enough to knock the fillings out of your teeth. That’s real noise pollution!
