Somalian U.N. Worker Is Kidnapped in Capital
A U.N. worker has been kidnapped in the Somalian capital, Mogadishu, in the second such abduction in the city in three months, the world body said.
Somalian national Mohamed Ali Aburkar was seized in the southern part of Mogadishu, according to a statement from the U.N. Development Program issued in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
“The U.N. country team for Somalia is working ... to ensure his safe release,” the statement said.
The abduction follows the kidnapping of a Somalian UNICEF worker in February. The worker was freed unhurt four days later.
