Breathing Machine Fails; Patient Dies
From Times Wire Reports
A stroke patient died when a backup generator running his breathing machine failed after several storm-related power outages at his Bridgeton nursing home.
Rass “Ralph” Rodgers, 56, died Saturday at a hospital, where paramedics took him after the backup generator at the Life Care Center home failed.
The St. Louis County medical examiner’s office said a machine helping Rodgers breathe stopped working, but the cause of death was not known. Police were investigating.
The nursing home operators declined to discuss Rodgers’ death.
