Girl, 4, Safe After Theft of Vehicle
A 4-year-old girl was safe at home Saturday after being found in her mother’s abandoned sport utility vehicle seven miles from where it was carjacked the day before, but police said they still did not have any suspects.
Komal Surani was found inside the vehicle about 10:30 p.m. Friday near Raymer Street and Bellaire Avenue in North Hollywood, said Lt. Loren Farell of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division.
The youngster had been missing since 3:30 p.m. Friday when someone attacked the girl’s mother, Muniran Surani, and took the black Lexus from a Northridge Costco parking lot, police said.
Surani had just placed her daughter in a car seat when she was attacked.
Investigators searched the vehicles for clues but have no strong leads, police said.
