SAB in Talks Over Miller Brewing
Bloomberg News
South African Breweries, the world’s fifth-largest brewer, said it’s in preliminary talks with Philip Morris Cos. about possibly buying the tobacco company’s Miller Brewing unit.
A takeover of Miller, estimated by analysts to be worth about $5 billion, would make London-based South African Breweries the world’s second-biggest beer maker behind U.S.-based Anheuser-Busch Cos.
Philip Morris’ stock fell 11 cents to $53.19 in NYSE trading.
