Man Kills Self After Armed Standoff
A 35-year-old man wanted in connection with an attempted murder and home invasion shot a woman and killed himself Wednesday morning in a motel room after an hourlong standoff with police, authorities said.
Kevin Brown, 35, barricaded himself and held a woman hostage at a Best Western motel in the 2500 block of Sepulveda Boulevard near Military Avenue after U.S. marshals attempted to serve a warrant, said Sgt. John Pasquariello, an LAPD spokesman.
After hearing several shots, a SWAT team entered the room and found Brown’s body in the bathroom. The 34-year-old woman, believed to be Brown’s girlfriend, had a wounded foot. The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital, Pasquariello said.
