Titans’ Harmon Sidelined Again

Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball forward Ike Harmon will be sidelined indefinitely because of a new stress fracture found in his left foot, it was announced Friday.

Harmon was out for about four weeks during preseason practice because of a similar injury to the same foot.

Harmon, who leads the Titans with averages of 14 points and 5.3 rebounds, was reexamined this week after experiencing pain in the foot, Coach Donny Daniels said.

Daniels said he expects Harmon to be sidelined for a minimum of four weeks. “The trainer said it’s a serious fracture,” Daniels said.

Only about six weeks remain in the regular season.

Harmon is fifth among Fullerton’s career scoring leaders with 1,479 points, 10 behind Greg Bunch, who scored 1,489 between 1973 and 1978. Leon Wood is the school’s all-time leader with 1,876 points in 1981-84. Harmon ranks fifth in career rebounding with 606. Cedric Ceballos is fourth with 618 in 1988-90.

By graduating in four years, Harmon regained the year of eligibility he lost as a freshman when he was a Proposition 48 non-qualifier. However, he was troubled by the first stress fracture soon after practice began in October.

“Ike worked hard to get back from the first injury, and I’m sure this is a bitter pill for him,” Daniels said.
