Suns’ Kidd Arrested After Admitting He Struck Wife
Police arrested Phoenix Sun point guard Jason Kidd after his wife was injured during an argument Thursday.
Lt. Ron Warner of the Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Police Department said Kidd and his wife, Joumana, argued about the feeding of their 2-year-old son Trey.
Kidd admitted he struck his wife about 5:30 p.m., resulting in a cut on the inside of her mouth and slight swelling to her lip, Warner said.
She called a 911 emergency dispatcher, and officers took her husband into custody, holding him on suspicion of domestic violence assault, a misdemeanor, until about 9 p.m. when he was released to his attorney’s custody, Warner said.
A Paradise Valley magistrate required that Kidd be in the custody of a third party until he appears in court again. That date had yet to be determined late Thursday night.
