Calvary Chapel Pitcher Out for Season
Kyle Christensen, a first-team all-county pitcher for Calvary Chapel last spring, will be sidelined this season after undergoing shoulder surgery last week, his father, Hal, said Thursday.
Christensen, who led the county with 15 victories as a sophomore last season, suffered a torn labrum while sliding head-first into second base during an off-season game last fall. Christensen, who lives in Laguna Hills and is home schooled, is expected to miss four to six months.
“The surgery went so much better than I thought,” Hal Christensen said. “He should begin throwing again in four to six weeks.”
Christensen, a 6-foot-4 left-hander, had a 1.50 earned-run average last season with 112 strikeouts, second most in the county.
