Victim of Fatal Accident Identified
An 11-year-old girl who accidentally hanged herself while playing on a stairway landing in her home was identified Sunday as Honesty Spencer.
The Lancaster girl was playing with a long strip of cloth when she stepped off the landing, said Deputy Ron Bottomley, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives investigated the death in the 45000 block of Rachel Avenue, where many distraught family members had gathered, and have ruled the death an accident, authorities said Sunday.
The cloth appeared to be a “bathrobe tie-around,” said Deputy Cruz Solis.
