Lewis Passes Big Test for Moorpark, 34-15
Nik Lewis, making his first start of the season at quarterback, passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Moorpark College over Glendale, 34-15, in a Western State Conference Northern Division game Saturday night at Moorpark.
It was the Raiders’ eighth consecutive victory over Glendale.
Lewis, Moorpark’s leading receiver this season, replaced regular quarterback Tim Bird, who was benched by the coaching staff.
Lewis completed 10 of 22 passes for 148 yards, including touchdowns of 15 yards to Aaron Fredette and five yards to Jason Bolding. Lewis ran for a two-yard score in the second quarter.
Fredette finished with six receptions for 94 yards.
Ray Carmel rushed for 202 yards in 20 carries and had a 57-yard touchdown run on the Raiders’ first play of the third quarter.
Joey Casillas rushed for 111 yards in 18 carries and had a two-yard touchdown run for Moorpark (6-3, 5-1 in WSC play).
Glendale (3-6, 2-3) was led by Seth Santoro, who completed five of 11 passes for 135 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown to Steve Carballo.
