For the second consecutive year, this game decides the South Coast League title. This year, it will also determine a top-four seeding in the playoffs. San Clemente must play without second-leading rusher Colin Mahoney, who has a broken collarbone. The Tritons’ strength has been their defense, but they didn’t do a great job of containing Esperanza’s Temitope Sonuyi this season or Mission Viejo’s Robbie Dubois last season. San Clemente’s offense has been sporadic, partly due to its unplanned three-quarterback system. If the Tritons are going to prevail, they’ll need a big game from Dan Coviello.
