Residents Invited to Government Day
San Fernando Valley residents are invited to the 20th annual Government Day today at Panorama Mall.
The event, sponsored by Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature representatives from a wide array of government agencies.
“The purpose of the event is to familiarize the residents with their government and the services available to them,” said Enrique Teves, representative for the city’s Department of Public Works.
The DPW is one of 40 public agencies that will participate. Others include the Department of Health Services, Department of Public Social Services, the Bureau of Family Support and the Los Angeles Police Department. The Los Angeles Fire Department will have a fire engine demonstration.
The displays will be family-friendly, with colorful presentations and brochures, plus information about children’s health services, Yaroslavsky said.
“Join me for an informative and fun-filled Government Day,” Yaroslavsky said. “This is a great opportunity for adults and families to learn about the government and the community services that are available to them.”
Panorama Mall is at 8401 Van Nuys Blvd. in Panorama City. For information, call (213) 473-3623.
