Anaheim’s two city-owned golf courses, Anaheim Hills and Dad Miller, will increase green fees Feb. 1, but rates for residents of Anaheim won’t change.

At Dad Miller, the cost for 18 holes will be $23 Monday through Thursday, $32 Friday-Sunday and $15 for seniors. At Anaheim Hills, it will be $40 Monday-Thursday, $50 Friday-Sunday and $32 for seniors. The price at Anaheim Hills includes a cart.

For residents, the price will remain $20, $36 and $12 at Dad Miller and $34, $40 and $26 at Anaheim Hills.

The increased revenue is earmarked to help pay for a $6-million clubhouse being planned at Anaheim Hills.

Janet Donovan, the city’s director of golf operations, said she realizes the increases might be painful for nonresidents but pointed out that rates at Dad Miller are still among the lowest in the area for comparable courses.

Green River in Corona, for instance, charges $24 Monday-Thursday and $34 Friday-Sunday and Mile Square in Fountain Valley charges $26 and $35.

“I don’t think they are going to find a better buy,” Donovan said. “Hopefully, it won’t penalize the nonresident too much, but we are basically trying to reward the Anaheim taxpayer and voter.”

STRONG DEBUT

Rancho Santa Margarita’s Kellee Booth finished tied for 24th in her first LPGA Tour event as a professional Sunday in Naples, Fla. She won $7,527, but her statistical ranking is even more impressive.

Booth, who shot 68-71-69-73, is in the top 10 in two important categories. She’s ranked fourth in greens in regulation at 76.4% and tied for fifth in scoring average at 70.25. Booth, who was a standout at Santa Margarita High and a four-time All-American at Arizona State, is second to Jen Hanna in Rookie of the Year points.
