Wait, L.A. Still Has a Chance to Shine
Comment: The Hollywood sign New Year’s Eve “event” was pitiful. Who was in charge? Let me be the first to suggest we have another opportunity approaching at the real end of the millennium on Dec. 31. So that Hollywood can take its rightful place as the leader in grand events, how about the following: 1,000 searchlights at the Hollywood Bowl, another 1,000 on the Sunset Strip, 1,000 at the new theater for the Academy Awards and another 1,000 at Universal Studios. Collectively, they would be quite impressive and coupled with a true movie-star parade of some sort and a Steven Spielberg-produced fireworks show, we could hold our heads up again and make Hollywood what it should be in the eyes of the world.
