Montana 73, Cal State Northridge 70--The Matadors dropped another game away from home, as Markus Carr’s shot from the lane to tie the game fell short with five seconds to play in overtime during a Big Sky Conference game at Missoula, Mont.

Matt Williams, who scored 24 points, followed Carr’s miss with a free throw to give Montana (14-9, 9-3) its seventh win in a row.

Northridge (14-8, 6-5), which lost for the third time in four games, dropped to fourth in the Big Sky. The Matadors’ loss was their third in a row away from home.

Northridge plays tonight at Montana State before returning home for its final four regular-season games. The Matadors are 9-0 at home.

“It’s disappointing because our guys played extremely hard,” Coach Bobby Braswell of Northridge said. “This was the first time I walked in [to the locker room] and didn’t have anything to say after a game. I didn’t know what to tell them.”

Northridge’s chances of winning the Big Sky regular-season title and hosting the conference tournament have all but slipped away. The Matadors, however, likely will qualify for the tournament.

“I don’t know what we’re playing for now,” Braswell said. “But we’re still in position to do some damage.”

Northridge trailed most of the game, repeatedly whittling away the Grizzlies’ lead, despite key players getting into foul trouble.

Andre Larry, Brian Heinle and Jeff Parris fouled out for Northridge. Larry, in his second game since returning from a three-game hiatus, led Northridge with 19 points before fouling out in overtime.
