Fire Destroys Condo Construction Site
From Times Wire Reports
Fire engulfed a five-story condominium complex under construction along the Hudson River. The roaring fire, which could be seen miles away and across the river in New York City, forced the evacuation of homes in Edgewater and in nearby Cliffside Park. Seven homes on the street behind the site were damaged by the fire, said police Detective Alex Hanna. A number of cars on the block were also damaged. No one was living in the Avalon River Mews condominiums being built on the former site of an Alcoa plant. Police said no injuries were reported.
