San Clemente High School showed dramatic improvement in the 2000 SAT scores. Students raised their average score by 17 points over last year’s, bringing the total score up to 1,107.

Modest increases are more reliable indicators of academic progress than huge swings of improvement, which could reflect random factors such as increases in the number of students taking preparatory classes, said Supt. James A. Fleming.
