SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The historic Mission San Juan Capistrano wraps up its sixth annual Outdoor Painting Competition this weekend.
About 100 artists who have been painting scenes from the 300-year-old mission grounds can each submit two works for the plein air competition that began Monday.
On Saturday, a three-judge panel will select the first-, second- and third-place winners, who will win $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 prizes.
Sales of the artwork will be open to the public Saturday and Sunday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children 3 to 12. The mission is at 31522 Camino Capistrano. Information: (949) 248-2047.
