Freeway Crash Hospitalizes LAPD Officer
A Los Angeles Police Department officer was in serious condition Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on the Santa Ana Freeway in Anaheim.
Michael J. Almasy, 33, was at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange with a spinal fracture, a spleen injury and broken collarbone, hospital spokeswoman Lauren Bechen said. The officer also suffered several cuts on his head in the accident, which occurred about 10:45 p.m. Monday.
Almasy was traveling south on the freeway near the Lincoln Avenue offramp and had just changed lanes when he collided with the truck. The driver of truck, Matt J. Wolf, 34, of Whittier, was not hurt or cited.
