Semtech Acquires Designer of Communications Parts
Semtech Corp. in Newbury Park has acquired Practical Sciences Inc., an Oxnard-based design firm specializing in high-speed communications components.
Practical Sciences is known primarily for designing advanced clock and data-recovery devices.
“The extensive knowledge of high-speed communications and analog design that Practical Sciences brings to Semtech allows us to take our next step in meeting the quickly expanding needs of the high-performance fiber-optic market,” said Stewart Kelly, director of advanced communications products at Semtech.
The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on Semtech’s near-term operating results.
Practical Sciences has provided design and consulting services for many large semiconductor and communications clients, officials said.
