Parent Hurt by Horse Is Recovering
A woman injured at a Porter Ranch school Friday when a horse charged into a crowd is recovering from a concussion and facial cuts at Simi Valley Hospital, a hospital official said Saturday.
Amanda Sanchez, 48, is in good condition, said nurse supervisor Pamela Maguire. “She’s alert and oriented,” Maguire said.
Sanchez, the mother of a Castlebay Elementary School student, was watching a Halloween parade at the school when a horse, part of a “Wild, Wild West” performance, bolted into a throng of children and parents.
Sanchez was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills and then transferred to Simi Valley Hospital on Friday night.
Three others--two children and the 18-year-old sister of a student--were also transported to hospitals with minor injuries. They were all treated and released Friday, hospital spokeswomen said.
