Water Cleaned Up, Beaches Reopen
Several Ventura beaches closed earlier this week because of a large release of untreated sewage have reopened after sampling indicates bacteria in the water now meet state minimum requirements.
The reopenings affect Ventura Harbor, Ventura Keys, Ventura Marina, Marina Park, Marina Cove Beach and Surfers Knoll beaches.
Warning signs at Hobie Beach and Channel Island Harbor Beach Park remain posted after sampling showed the water quality does not meet state minimum standards, officials said.
Ocean Water Quality Monitoring Program staff members will continue with the weekly bacteriological sampling of Ventura beaches.
Results for specific beaches are available Thursdays after 3 p.m. at 662-6555 and at www.ventura.org/env_hlth/env.htm.
