La Canada Cleans Up on Hoover, 21-0
Stifling defense and the running of Chase McKibben led La Canada High to a 21-0 nonleague victory over Hoover on Thursday night at Glendale High.
Hoover (1-4), which punted or committed turnovers on nine of 10 possessions, was limited to 113 yards and six first downs.
McKibben rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns in seven carries.
La Canada (2-3) drove 45 yards in six plays to score on the first series of the game, scoring on a two-yard run by David Rosales.
McKibben scored the second touchdown on a one-yard plunge midway through the second quarter, and added a two-point conversion run for a 14-0 lead.
McKibben scored on a 16-yard run following a 47-yard interception return by Pat Perrigue.
Rosales rushed for 72 yards in seven carries and Chet Johnson-Blasucci added 51 yards in 10 carries for La Canada.
Daniel Shepard of Hoover completed five of 12 passes for 48 yards with two interceptions, and rushed for 29 yards in 16 carries.
