Motorcyclist Killed in Highway Collision
In the first Ventura County fatality of the holiday weekend, a motorcyclist was killed Sunday on California 33 north of Ojai in a collision with a sport utility vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.
Dana Hoover, 46, of Westlake Village, was riding a 1997 Suzuki north on California 33, 11 miles south of Pine Mountain Camp Road, when he crossed the center line and was hit by a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder traveling south, authorities said.
The driver of the Nissan, Bobby Hernandez, 39, of Ventura and his passengers were not injured. Hoover was killed instantly.
It is unclear why Hoover crossed the median. The CHP is investigating the incident.
