Prep track: Carey Hubert’s reason for retiring as Dana Hills boys’ track and field coach was incorrectly reported in Tuesday’s editions of The Times Orange County. Hubert, who still teaches at the school, gave up his coaching job to spend more time with his family.

Tustin football Coach Myron Miller replaces walk-on Shad Vickers this season and the new coach is requiring football players to compete in track, which is a first at the school. . . . Dana Hills Coach Carey Hubert, who left the school for health reasons after five years, was replaced by Tim Butler, who compiled a 21-6-2 record at Dana Hills between 1986-90. . . . Former Los Angeles Ram Henry Ellard is coaching Villa Park triple jumper Justin Haney, who has the top mark in the event among returners (46-0). Ellard was a 56-foot triple jumper at Fresno State. . . . In addition to running the 400 meters for Laguna Hills this season, Zac Marshall is also playing tennis for the Hawks. . . . Rancho Alamitos, which has won 12 consecutive dual meets, is coached by Tom Julian, who was a member of the 880-yard relay team that still holds the county record (1:26.8). Julian’s older brother, Randy, was a California state champion in the 440 (47.4). . . . San Clemente’s top sprinter and long jumper, Kai Lewis, is an African American albino, who is legally blind. Lewis, who was ineligible last season after transferring from the East Coast, has run 11.0 in the 100 and reached 21-0 in the long jump.
